The easiest way to make a difference in the world…be you!

You never really know the impact you’ll have on other people’s lives. When we wrote a book about how to cross-stitch little people, the last thing on our minds was changing people lives; but that’s just what happened for some people! Making these little portraits for their friends and families and coworkers doesn’t just bring joy and purpose to the stitcher’s lives, it’s infectious; and that’s not a word we use lightly in the middle of a global pandemic. But the joy and positivity and good feelings, really do spread! Before we get too mushy, we wanted to share a few of the inspiring messages we’ve received from Stitch People stitchers over the last couple of years. We hope they’ll inspire you to keep the love flowing to those around you!

Names and personal details have been changed

Hi Lizzy!!

I know these emails are automatic emails and that, but I appreciate getting them nonetheless. 🙂

This holiday, for my sister and brother, I’m doing them a stitch family portrait each! I’ll share pics on insta when they’re done.

I got my stitch people book a year ago at Christmas and I absolutely love it. Putting together stitch portraits is one of my favourite things to do and I have given them to so many people in my life. I started cross stitching as an unlikely hobby after a breakup and have now fallen in love with it. It brings me joy, and you and your books have increased that joy over and over. Thank you for what you do. Selfishly, I’m glad you decided to make a career out of this.It may seem like a little thing but your work and passion for stitching, you creating these books… in a small way you have changed my life. And although I don’t know you, I thank you for that.

I wish you and your family the happiest of holidays. Merry Christmas!

Jamie

…THANK YOU for being an answer to prayer. For years I’ve struggled with mixing my passions with a side gig.

I’ve owned a boutique (sold due to being bored and not loving it) and another business that I couldn’t put my heart into. Then I stumbled across your book.

YOUR BOOK has shown me in three days what I’d been missing in my life. I needed to mix my love of cross stitching that I’d lost along the way with my creativity to create a business! The other businesses I owned never let me express my creativity, my desire to create for others. I knew I needed an outlet, and one that was unique.

I am SO thankful for you and your company and your amazing, inspiring books! Thank you for making my 2020 a year to look forward to while designing, creating and loving!

I just finished my first Stitch People. While certainly not perfect I am pleased with how it turned out knowing I’ll only grow from here. Please critique it if you have the opportunity so that I can improve!

Thank you again so much!

Amanda

…Honestly – the thing that SOLD me was when I saw that you included someone in a wheelchair. I had to have it. You never know how what we do may touch another person’s life, so I wanted to share. Im probably not the first to commend you for including special needs in your book, but that’s what struck a cord with me when looking at your site.  This past November and December I must have posted about Stitch People Vol 2 at least 20 times. Alas, no one got my Christmas wish hint. BUT…I did get a very generous Amazon gift card from my son and was super delighted to see your book offered there as well. I ordered as soon as we returned home from Christmas travels out of state! My book is due to arrive tomorrow and I already have my boxes of floss and a new package of needles sitting out waiting! I think it would be appropriate to make my first family portrait of my Son and his family, to say “Thank you” for the gift.

I am so excited to get started and learn portraits! I also have my eye on two more of your books! (Shhh!) All the best to you in your future Stitch People endevours!
Sincerely,

Diana

…Your books are amazing and I love designing my friends and family! Stitch people have got me back into cross stitch and being a stay at home mum gives me something that’s mine and not just being a mum! Something I can show I’ve done! It’s helped me with my depression and anxiety as it gives me something to focus on! You’ve done loads already and to then email you give such a personal touch that’s it’s not a business! Thanks for being amazing

Susan

I’m sure you get inundated with responses but I just wanted to say thank you for giving me something to focus on during this unprecedented time. I’m a pharmacist and have worked through all this- which is fine- but man stitch people became such an anxiety reliever!! It truly has been such a blessing to find!!!
That’s all! I love spreading the good news of stitch people!! I’m your hype girl!! I even started a stitch insta for me!!
Thank you for sharing your passion so I could find a new one for me!

Kristen

It is messages like these that make everything we do worth it. They help teach us that just putting yourself out there and doing the best for others can truly make a difference. Thank you to each and every member of this community. We hope you’ll read this post and see how you too, have a positive impact on those people around you, even if you don’t realize it.

Happy stitching!

  1. I love it! I love that following YOUR passions has helped so many people find and follow THEIRS!! And it couldn’t be said of two more kind, sweet people in the world, Lizzy and Spencer. Add me to the list of those who are grateful for you and what you’ve started! Hopefully it never ends!
